I watched the trailer/clips from 'Psycho'.
Analysis:
From this trailer,
- I learnt that women are portrayed as weak/vulnerable. They are therefore used as an easy source of fear.
- The protagonist is predominantly by herself when she feels vulnerable and conscious of who is around.
- The murderer isn't clearly defined, but is shown as a figure or silhouette. This is done to bring about a certain enigma to the audience.
Low key lighting to make the silhouette and shadows more prominent - makes the lighting more significant, as it connotes an importance of a certain person. |
Close-up shot to build tension as the identity is still hidden which connotes a narrative enigma. |
Low shot conveys the antagonist to be tactical and larger/more intimidating. |
